Used CPU Prices UK 2026 — What to Actually Pay for Ryzen & Intel
A current price reference for every popular used CPU in the UK: Ryzen 5/7/9, Intel Core i5/i7/i9, and Core Ultra. What's a fair price, what's a steal, what's a rip-off.
CPUs are the easiest used PC part to buy because they almost never die. They also have the most predictable used prices of any component — which is good news, because it means there's a clear "fair price" you should never pay above.
Below is the current rolling UK used-market average for every popular CPU we track. Updated continuously from live eBay UK, CeX and Gumtree listings.
AMD Ryzen — recommended buys
| CPU | UK used avg | Steal under | What it's good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ryzen 5 5600 | £80 | £65 | Budget AM4 gaming builds |
| Ryzen 5 5600X | £90 | £75 | Same as 5600, slightly faster |
| Ryzen 5 7600 | £160 | £135 | Entry AM5 |
| Ryzen 5 7600X | £180 | £150 | Mid-range AM5 |
| Ryzen 7 5800X3D | £240 | £200 | Best AM4 gaming CPU, period |
| Ryzen 7 7700X | £220 | £180 | Solid all-rounder |
| Ryzen 7 7800X3D | £340 | £290 | Best gaming CPU under £400 |
| Ryzen 7 9800X3D | £470 | £420 | Current king for gaming |
| Ryzen 9 7900X | £300 | £260 | Productivity workhorse |
| Ryzen 9 7950X | £380 | £330 | 16-core productivity |
The play: If you're building AM4, the 5800X3D below £210 is the steal of the year. If you're building AM5, the 7800X3D under £300 prints money.
Intel Core — recommended buys
| CPU | UK used avg | Steal under | What it's good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core i5-12400F | £90 | £75 | Best-value budget Intel |
| Core i5-13600K | £180 | £150 | Mid-range gaming |
| Core i5-14600K | £200 | £170 | Mid-range gaming, newer |
| Core i7-13700K | £230 | £195 | High-end gaming/work |
| Core i7-14700K | £280 | £240 | Stronger all-rounder |
| Core i9-13900K | £320 | £270 | Productivity beast |
| Core Ultra 7 265K | £320 | £270 | New Arrow Lake mid-high |
| Core Ultra 9 285K | £480 | £420 | Top Arrow Lake |
The play: Used 13600K at £150 is the best £/frame in 2026 PC gaming. Avoid 13th/14th gen i9s near full price — degradation reports make them risky used buys without warranty.
Watch out for
- Bent pins on Ryzen AM4. Always demand a clear photo of the underside before paying.
- i9-13900K and i9-14900K degradation. Buy these from CeX only, where you get a 2-year warranty.
- "Engineering sample" CPUs. Cheap for a reason — won't boot on most motherboards.
Where to actually buy
CeX is the safest for older CPUs because the warranty offsets the slight premium. eBay UK is where the steals are if you're confident with a quick visual inspection. Gumtree wins for collection-only deals near a city.
